About This District
Bridgeport is Connecticut’s largest city, with a population of approximately 148,000. The Bridgeport Probate Court is one of the busiest in the state. The court processes a high volume of estate administrations, conservatorship petitions, and guardianship matters. Given the city’s demographics, the court regularly handles small estate affidavits (PC-212) under CGS Section 45a-273, as well as more complex estate proceedings.
The court also sees a significant number of commitment proceedings under CGS Section 17a-495 et seq., and matters referred to or from the Bridgeport Regional Children’s Probate Court, which handles contested children’s cases for Fairfield County districts.
The court is located in the Government Center on Broad Street in downtown Bridgeport.
